⚡ Bajrang Baan

Bajrang Baan — composed by Goswami Tulsidas.

Bajrang = vajra-limbed (a body hard as a thunderbolt). Baan = arrow.

An arrow that does not miss its mark — it strikes straight at fear and danger.

When: Tuesdays and Saturdays · in serious difficulty.

Opening Doha

1
Nishchay prem prateeti te, binay karain sanmaan |
Tehi ke kaaraj sakal shubh, siddh karain Hanumaan ||
Meaning: For the one who prays with steadfast love, faith, humility and respect — Hanuman accomplishes all their good works.
Note: Note the four conditions: love, faith, humility, respect. Not the mantra — the attitude behind it.

Main Verses

2
Jai Hanumant sant hitkaari |
Sun leejai prabhu araj hamaari |
Jan ke kaaj bilamb na keejai |
Aatur dauri mahaa sukh deejai ||
Meaning: Victory to Hanuman, benefactor of the saints! Lord, hear our plea. Do not delay in your servant's work — come running, and grant great joy.
Note: 'Bilamb na keejai'do not delay. This is not a command. It is the cry of someone in trouble.
3
Jai Hanumaan jayati bal-saagar |
Sur-samooh-samarath bhat-naagar |
Om Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanumant hatheele |
Bairihi maaru bajra kee keele ||
Meaning: Victory to Hanuman, ocean of strength! Mighty champion among the hosts of gods! Om Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanumant, resolute one — strike down the enemy with your thunderbolt nail.
Note: 'Hanu Hanu Hanu' — the repetition is believed to intensify the mantra.

Who is the 'enemy'? Not another person. Fear, ignorance, anger — the enemies within.
4
Jai jai jai Hanumant agaadhaa |
Dukh paavat jan kehi aparaadhaa |
Poojaa jap tap nem achaaraa |
Nahin jaanat kachhu daas tumhaaraa ||
Meaning: Victory, victory, victory to the unfathomable Hanuman! What offence has your servant committed, that he suffers so? Worship, chanting, austerity, vows, ritual — your servant knows none of these.
Note: This is the heart of the hymn.

'I don't know how to worship properly. I don't know the mantras. I am only your servant — that is all.'

Devotion does not require scholarship.

Closing Verse & Method

5
Uthu uthu chalu tohi Raam duhaaee |
Paanya paraun kar jori manaaee |
Om cham cham cham cham chapal chalantaa |
Om Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanumantaa ||
Meaning: Rise, rise, come — I swear by Rama's name! I fall at your feet with folded hands and beseech you. Om cham cham cham — swift-moving one! Om Hanu Hanu Hanu — Hanuman!
Note: 'Raam duhaaee' = I invoke you by Rama's name.

It is the one appeal Hanuman cannot refuse. The devotee uses his only weapon: the name of Rama.

How to recite Bajrang Baan
Meaning: When: Tuesday or Saturday, morning or evening.

How: bathe and sit clean · light a lamp before Hanuman · first remember Rama's name (this is what Hanuman loves most) · then recite the Bajrang Baan · traditionally followed by the Hanuman Chalisa.
Note: Important: Recite with a pure heart, wishing harm on no one. The right understanding of 'bairi' (enemy) is your own fear, anger and ignorance — not another human being.

Please note: This is a devotional tradition. For medical or legal difficulties, please also consult the proper professionals.
